NEW YORK–National plaintiffs’ law firm, DiCello Levitt, today announced the addition of Justin S. Nematzadeh, as a partner in the firm’s New York office. Focusing his practice on securities and antitrust class action litigation, Nematzadeh joins DiCello Levitt from Pomerantz LLP, where he had practiced since 2015. This key addition adds immediate firepower to the firm’s New York office, led by veteran trial attorney Greg Gutzler, which it launched in February. DiCello Levitt’s recent expansion bolsters its antitrust and securities fraud litigation capabilities and complements its renowned commercial litigation, class action, and mass tort capabilities.
A core member of the trial team that secured a historic $3 billion settlement against Brazil’s largest oil company, Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. in a multi-billion-dollar bribery and kickback case, Nematzadeh has played pivotal roles in a broad range of complex securities litigation matters. Prior to joining Pomerantz, he practiced at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, where he handled federal and state complex litigation and internal and regulatory investigations, with a focus on antitrust and securities fraud litigation.
“Justin is an ideal addition to our New York office, as he possesses the experience and skills necessary to lead complex litigation on behalf of our growing base of corporate and financial sector clients,” said Adam Levitt, co-founding partner of DiCello Levitt. “With the addition of Justin to our already strong group of younger partners, including Amy Keller, we are proud to have assembled a team of rising stars that I would put up against anyone in the country.”
In 2018, Nematzadeh was honored as a Rising Star under 40 years of age by Law360® in Class Actions, a prestigious award given to a select few “top litigators and dealmakers practicing at a level usually seen from veteran attorneys.” He has also been honored by Lawyers of Distinction® in securities law and by Super Lawyers® as a Rising Star in antitrust and securities law.
Nematzadeh earned his J.D., cum laude, from the Fordham University School of Law and his B.B.A., with distinction, from the University of Michigan. He also served as a judicial intern to the Hon. Stuart M. Bernstein of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Nematzadeh was awarded a 2013 Pro Bono Publico award from The Legal Aid Society for his advocacy on behalf of plaintiffs.
“Justin is a key player in our concerted effort to expand our East Coast presence and grow our securities, antitrust and complex commercial litigation offerings,” said Gutzler, DiCello Levitt’s New York managing partner. “We have ambitious growth plans in New York and across all of our offices. We are leading significant lawsuits across the United States and internationally and are constantly seeking strategic opportunities to scale up our services to meet the incredible demand for sophisticated plaintiffs’ counsel.”
